YHA STEWART ISLAND PROJECT NEEDS YOUR VOTE

Canon New Zealand launched Canon Creative for a Cause on 28th May 2009, a national campaign targeting the hundreds of New Zealand charities in desperate need of awareness and financial support.
Based on the belief that a single image can change the world, the campaign aims to inspire New Zealanders through photography with the chance to win their nominated charity $25,000 and to become one of Canon’s preferred charities in 2009.
The top 5 photos with the most votes are selected as finalists and the winner is chosen by a Judging panel on the 11th July 2009.
YHA have entered our very own images in the hope that we will be able to raise money for what we believe is an important cause – the YHA Stewart Island Project.
YHA New Zealand is planning to build a 56 bed hostel and learning centre on Stewart Island as a legacy for all New Zealanders and travellers to this country.
The hostel and learning centre will be like none other, sustainable, built to be part of the environment, designed to reduce our carbon footprint, and to be a connected part of Stewart Island’s pristine environment.
Most Importantly: The YHA hostel will help ensure that some of New Zealand’s most beautiful and ecologically diverse land remains accessible to young people now, and for the future. Donating to the project means that you will be part of this special hostel that New Zealanders and visitors will benefit from year after year.
The learning centre will be a resource which schools, visitors and clubs can use to immerse themselves in the island to share enriching experiences with each other and the local community.
