One of my favourite photos .. taken 2006
One of my favourite photos .. taken 2006

It’s a favourite especially as I know no-one else took this photo of Buddha getting his nails painted in a non-tourist area of Thailand.

A Kiwi (travel writer) gets hit by an Aussie raptor

A second before it collides with me!
A second before Australia’s largest raptor collides with me – think he knew I’m not ‘real’ birdwatcher

More blogs to come from my recent Australian trip, but no more such bird encounters.

Memories: Christchurch, New Zealand – photo of the day

The ‘old post office’ as we used to call the main building in this photos is still in “the square’ in Christchurch, New Zealand.

The building with the dome .. the Regent movie theatre.. has been demolished after the quake, and the large hotel is still operating and is a handy place to stay while in the city. I took this photo from the top of the cathedral which is still under threat of being demolished by the Anglican church despite most locals wanting it to be restored.

In the palm of Buddha – two of my fav’ photos.

I’m off to revisit this now completed Buddha tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing it without the scaffolding … but not sure any of my new photos will be as special as these as I know no one else has them. When I was there a few years ago tourist s didn’t know it existed.
